The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners, a majority of whom ran claiming to be fiscal conservatives who would curb out-of-control spending, has adopted a whopping $42 million in new spending since 2022.
In 2022, the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners made a bold commitment to residents by signing a "Contract with Ottawa." This contract included a promise to increase transparency. But after 500+ days in office, they still haven't changed transparency policy.
Despite their claims of being fiscally conservative, the current leadership has engaged in lawsuits that have burdened taxpayers with exorbitant costs. Spending on legal fees is up almost $500,000 in 2023 alone.
